Ye Olde Six Bells in Horley, Surrey, England; reputedly the second oldest pub in the country with origins dating to the 9th century. The pub’s name derives from the original bells which hung at St. Bartholomew’s church next door.
If you know me at all you are well aware my favoured county in England is East Sussex; but I think Surrey deserves the prize for most underrated. I peruse zillions of tourist sites and England blogs and from said reports one might imagine Surrey a kind of suburban marshland of greater London, where the commuters paddle down a canal to work each day with seaweed between their teeth. In reality Surrey is brimming with history and beauty and architecture and stunning, unexpected finds such as this. (Tony Evans)
